Welcome to Your Reconnect Application

Reconnect is a scholarship program for Michiganders 21 or older, who don’t have a college degree, to pursue an associate degree or skill certificate. Reconnect covers up to the 'in-district' tuition, mandatory fees, and contact hours at any of Michigan's public community colleges. Visit List of Colleges if you need help figuring out which college to attend.
Let us walk you through the steps to complete the application.

Congratulations!

You have been accepted into the Michigan Reconnect scholarship program. Way to go!

You’re one step closer to earning a tuition-free or reduced tuition degree or certificate from a Michigan community college.

If you are currently taking classes at your community college, please contact your college’s Financial Aid Office to check the status of your Reconnect scholarship.

What’s next if you’re not already enrolled?

  1. Apply to a Michigan community college and select which eligible associate degree or skill certificate program you want to pursue.

  2. File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to discover how much federal funding you may qualify for, if any.

  3. Enroll in your program of study and connect with an academic advisor to register for classes.

Already completed the steps above? Great job!

Concerned about cost?

Reach out to the financial aid office at the community college you want to attend to confirm what portion of your tuition could be covered by Michigan Reconnect. You can find email addresses and phone numbers for all Michigan community colleges here: List of Colleges.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR THOSE AGE 21-24

  • Currently taking classes? Connect with your financial aid office for additional information on applying your Reconnect Scholarship to your tuition bill. If you’ve already paid a tuition bill this semester, you might be eligible to get money back!

  • Not currently taking classes? Plan to begin your enrollment process as soon as possible. ACT NOW: To receive the Reconnect scholarship, you MUST complete the above steps and begin coursework at a community or tribal college no later than the fall semester 2024.

Whether you are already taking classes or still need to enroll, there is additional support available. Watch your inbox — you will receive an email from one of our Student Navigators in the next one to two weeks. Your Navigator can help you complete the required steps to use the Michigan Reconnect scholarship toward your community college tuition — like making sure you have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file.

Your Navigator can also help you explore college and community supports to help make your community college journey a success.

Once again, congratulations on taking this important step for your future. You’ve got this!
